Ethiopian Media Women Association (EMWA) is a non-partisan, non-profit professional association established in 1999 to promote women’s rights through and in the media. Since its establishment in 1999, EMWA has been engaged in advancing professional freedom, excellence, and ethical conduct among women journalists and media practitioners. Currently, it has over 100 members, from all fields of media and communication: private and government media, NGOs, international organizations, communication agencies, and professional individual women media practitioners. EMWA has members in all the regions and cities’ administration but liaising committees in Amhara, Oromia, Dire Dawa, Harar, Somali, and SNNPR. The association re-registered in 2019 after the new law on civil society organizations passed.

1: Accountant/Admin
BA Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance or relevant field study with a minimum of 3 years experience in payment processing.
Location: Addis Ababa
Knowledge in financial accounting, administration, and donor/project contract management, preferably with an NGO in a similar capacity
Strong background and work experience.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in excel, word, outlook, and access.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

2: Project Officer
BA degree in economics, social sciences, and related fields combined with relevant practical experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience and sound knowledge of project development
Demonstrated application of applying operational and administrative guidelines to the design and management of activities
Knowledge and related working experience in media and gender-focused projects
Ability to plan and manage different events, meetings, and conferences
Strong computer skills and good knowledge of relevant software applications
Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills, including English language written skills
3: External Auditor
Degree in accounting or finance.
Location: Addis Ababa
Previous experience as an external auditor.
Experience in data analysis and reporting on finances.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles.

4: Consultant
Specific objectives include:
To examine editorial policies of selected media houses
To study how the gender-responsive editorial policies are practiced in the media houses
To assess and analyze to what extent the media editorial policies support gender equality schemes as the means to grant a space that respects women’s rights
To examine if there are different perspectives among regional and Addis media in terms of a gender perspective on editorial policies

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS/DELIVERABLES OF THE CONSULTANT
Submit a brief technical proposal outlining how they would conduct the job, the time required, and the cost.
Collect and analyze the existence of gender-responsive editorial policies of 18 media houses indicated on the subject of the assessment
Conduct interviews for selected media houses to assess the implementation of gender-sensitive editorial policies
Conduct a detailed analysis of gender inclusiveness of editorial policies
Present the findings of the research at the validation workshop
EXPECTED OUTPUTS OF THE ASSESSMENT:
Research document on to what extent media houses include a gender perspective in their editorial policies
A baseline for further and full-fledged research on gender and editorial policies analysis
Create insight among media houses to be aware of their editorial policies in terms of gender equality and equity
The selected consultant/s or firms should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:
Previous experience in working on media research. Individual consultants/firms who have done media and gender-related research will be prioritized
Expertise and experience in conducting surveys, evaluating media and gender programs/projects/policies
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Ethiopian media landscape
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skill is required.
