Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Chauffer (Marine Security Guard) position.

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (48 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No Relocation Expenses

Reimbursed: No Travel

Duties

Under the direct supervision of Marine Gunny, incumbent operates a variety of armored and non-armored motor vehicles to transport Mission personnel, including VIP visitors, TDY staff, delegations and field trips. Performs routine preventive maintenance, cleaning of vehicle and completes trip ticket to notate each trip taken on their shift, including mileage, fuel, condition of vehicle, and passenger details. Incumbent(s) serves as chauffeur for the Marine Security Guards, driving for the Marines.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years’ experience in driving passenger or cargo vehicle is required

EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School is required.

LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required.

Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.

 (You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Very good defensive driving skills. Must have a valid 3rd class driver’s license .Ability to work on rotational shift schedule is required. Must be able to drive carefully and cautiously in heavy and chaotic traffic. Ability to communicate clearly on the phone and/or by radio and follow instructions. Ability to recognize hazards or potential dangerous situations and take appropriate defensive actions is required. Good knowledge of use of defensive security equipment  (This will be tested).
