How can you make a difference?

Present the parameters of the requested services in terms of its scope and limits; what should be done and how will it be done? The scope should be specific and realistic given the time frame and resources available for the implementation. It should provide:

A concise description of the tasks to be performed and related results to enable the candidates/vendors to provide a detailed understanding of the assignment when submitting proposals

An indication of methodologies, if appropriate

The broad timeframe for the activities and actions

Address any specific issues, including the expected boundaries of the assignment.

Under the guidance of Health Specialist /Lead – Disease Prevention and Control Cluster, and in close coordination with the emergency focal person at UNICEF country office, the consultant will work closely with the Ethiopia Public Health Institute (EPHI) to coordinate information sharing and alerts on public health concerns, collect, analyse, and share data of UNICEF support for public health and humanitarian emergencies and technical support to EPHI and RHBs where needed and perform the below tasks:

Participate in National Emergency Operation Centre regular meetings, Technical Working Group Meetings and any other meetings as required
Provide technical support to EPHI/PHEM, RHBs, and partners on health emergencies data collection, data verification, analysis, and sharing updates
Participate in all PHEOCs technical and coordination meetings where needed
In coordination with EPHI, collect, verify, analyse, present and share health emergency data and information related to disease outbreaks,
Collect humanitarian data from UNICEF programmes across the regions, consolidate, and share regular updates
Share any alerts of public health concerns

The expected consultant is required to have the following academic and technical background, experience and competencies:

Master’s degree or equivalent in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Data sciences, statistics, research
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in health management information system
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to write clear and concise reports in English.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate in a multicultural environment.
Computer literacy with a high ability to use excel spreadsheets.
Fluency in English is a requirement.

It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
